David W. Hunley, DVM, DACVIM (Oncology)
Board Certified – Oncology
Doctor David Hunley received his DVM degree from Louisiana State University in May
2001, followed by a small animal medicine and surgery internship at North Carolina State
University. He went on to do a residency in medical oncology at Louisiana State
University and stayed on at LSU as a clinical instructor and assistant professor until
Hurricane Katrina blew him to New England. Doctor Hunley’s Passion for oncology arose
from the loss of his own dog to metastatic mast cell tumor in 1999.
Doctor Hunley is a two-time LSU Vet School hot dog eating champion (personal best:
13 hot dogs and buns in 12 minutes), and he at one time held pizza delivery records at
2 separate delivery restaurants in Raleigh, NC. While he is now retired from competitive
eating, he does enjoy a good food challenge now and then (local favorite: Spike’s
Junkyard Dogs). He grew up in the cradle of basketball civilization (Chapel Hill, NC) and
still holds a deep affection for Tar Heel basketball. He enjoys spending most of his free
time exploring the world with his beautiful wife and their two amazing children.
